It's hard for me to switch from illustration field to concept art. I'm so used to do details rather than different ideas. It would be easy for me going into concept field iif I had not done much illustration before. I feel like I have to relearn drawing&painting thlol. However, concept art is fun!

This is my newest work. I promise you a guy. This is during the slient time before he attacks. He slowly draws out his blade to be ready for the battle. I'll find time to do some creature concepts for this piece.

I started this head from the original human DemoHead in Zbrush alone with 6 hrs of work. My first work with zbrush.
I gave my beardie away last year..
And I still dream about him...

hummm....I guess this is how we look like in the future after lands fell. Well, I actually started this piece last July..but it had been sitting in my hard drive for a full year.

all start from scratch & no photo ref. I had a hard time drawing water, so I observed it while painting this. I swear I'm going to paint a male next time (cause this was going to be a male instead a female)!

Dunhuang

The background was painted traditionally and then scanned in. This painting is basically a colored one from my b/w concept. All free hand as usual. One thing about this which makes it to be separated from most of my other figure paintings is that I didn't use myself as a model for reference, instead of that, I did freely on what was in my mind.
This is inspired by the trip that I visited in Dunhuang, China.

She's Indian but not a most beautiful one. I combined Chinese and Italian styles into the background painting.
I forgot to mention that the reference of anatomy and the model is myself. I took several pictures of my own poses (I couldn't even know the camara place me in the center or not, and that is always a pain on the ass.)to get correct lighting and anatomy.

Well, I did this last year. It's kind of weird that not many people like this piece. I don't where the problem is. It's one of my very few pieces that have more than one figure in a painting...

All free hand painted from scratch with no reference used. I mean that I didn't look at anything while painting this. Same as other two pieces below. All of those were imagined.

Cerberus

Here is a story character from a friend, Daniel.
Cerberus possesses a person every so many hundred years. Cerberus is the guardian of the gates of hell, which is Earth. Demons and Angels both try to take control of the gates of hell. Cerberus is supposed to keep the angels and demons who also possess people, and return them to where they belong which is what the keys are for, the gates of hell.
All free hand painted from scratch. I'm not sure does it fit as all free hand painted because I reproduced the texture on the stone wall base on the floor that I already painted. Same with the tree, I painted the bottom part and then just use stamp tool regenerate some more texture on the upper part of the tree. I only did half of the gate door, another half was just copy and past.
No reference for the background or clothes but used myself as a model from head to toe for the reference of the figure. I used to stand infront of a mirror as a still life posing and painting at the same time. Believe me, that was a pain.

Well, this's just a fun piece that I played around. All painted on one layer using photoshop. Original character.
I did this on my laptop, and I always have to adjust contrast and lighting after I transfer the file to my desktop. The screen contrast and brightness on both ofmy laptop and desktop never match...such a headache.
